Publishable summary:

Industrial symbiosis (IS) initiatives require the engagement of different stakeholders in the area. Furthermore, for the successful implementation of the IS activity is essential the establishment of the common vision and governance structure, so that the different stakeholders involved have a clear alignment of the IS success and deterrent factors and they can find common strategies to address them.
In the D2.2 “Industrial symbiosis vision for CORALIS Communities of Members” different activities (facilitatior role establishment, desk research, common survey, different meetings, and visioning workshop) have been carried out to identify and mobilise the stakeholders related to the IS democases (lighthouses and followers). Due to the different nature of the IS initiative and the maturity level of each democase, tailor-made actions need to be implemented for the accomplishment of T2.2, i.e. adaptation of interviews, need of prospection focus groups, workshops, etc. In this deliverable, the main outcomes regarding identification of stakeholders, establishment of governance structure and common vision of the area are determined.
The establishment of the facilitator role is a key factor for the development of IS. The facilitator manages and coordinates the overall execution of the CORALIS project concerning ERL and MRL with all involved stakeholders in their local environment, creating the synergies and knowledge transfer among the different CORALIS partners within the different WPs. Furthermore, the facilitator helps to build the necessary trust and communication, that helps to characterize and mobiles the relevant stakeholders for the IS case, creating the Community of members (CoM).
The development of the CoM is synthetised in the agreement of the common vision for each democase. The identification and establishment of the CoM would lead to the formation of a core group where a common vision can be defined and applied, identifying the scope and the boundary limits (geographical and timeline) where the vision is applied. The common vision helps to increase the leadership of the industries involved in the area, to define clear objectives to drive future actions, and to increase the impact of the synergies in the area. In this deliverable, the vision of each democase is gathered, as well as the different organizational structures to carry out the IS activities.
This deliverable is aligned with the other activities of WP2, and creates the baseline in terms of organisational and stakeholders analyses of each democase, so that a holistic characterization of the 6 democase is obtained. During this task, a common vision, the organization of the communication and organizational channels to develop the IS case, and the identification and fostering of potential new IS initiatives have been carried out. Furthermore, this task has a direct impact in WP4, to help to analyse the potential business models according to the stakeholders identified, in WP9 for the evaluation and coordination of IS activities, and WP10 to ensure the exploitation of the activities.
