The study “Energy-saving and carbon emission reduction effect of urban-industrial symbiosis implementation with feasibility analysis in the city”  emphasizes the importance of promoting energy efficiency and resource conservation in cities for sustainable development. It introduces the Urban-Industrial Symbiosis (UIS) strategy as an effective means to reduce resource consumption and carbon emissions. Focusing on a case study in Shenyang, the UIS system optimizes waste treatment and industrial processes. Key findings include the impact of steam transportation on energy savings, the crucial role of economic factors in waste treatment method transitions, and the potential recovery of 8.05 × 106 GJ of energy and a 1.3% reduction in carbon emissions for Shenyang through UIS implementation. The study offers valuable quantitative insights for assessing the viability of UIS practices in developing country cities.
