The transition to sustainable industrial processes requires efficient renewable energy solutions. A newly published study, Decision-Making and Selection Framework for Potential Implementation of Concentrated Solar Power Technologies, explores how CSP technology can be optimised for industrial applications.
Conducted by researchers from CIRCE and Fertiberia, the study presents a multi-phase approach combining decision matrices, performance simulations, and techno-economic evaluations to identify the most suitable CSP solutions. The research highlights the advantages of solar tower technology and examines the impact of deployment conditions on energy output. It also evaluates energy storage options, identifying an optimal storage time of 11 hours and assessing an innovative molten salt (FERT-1) for enhanced thermal efficiency.
This study provides valuable insights into the feasibility of CSP for industrial decarbonisation, offering a structured framework for its implementation.
